「割れないように持ってきました」と、開店早々に手渡してくださったクッキーはローゲージにちがいないざっくりセーターのかたち。
わたしがたいていいつも母の手編みニットを着ているところから、迷いなく「これだ」と選んでくださったそうで（すぐに食べるのは惜しい）、しばらく家に飾って楽しみたいと思います。お気持ち、とてもうれしかったです。
“I made sure not to break it on the way to you,” one of my customers handed me the cookie. It was shaped like a chunky, low-gauge sweater, just as I had imagined. She told me she chose it right away, thinking “That’s it,” because she often sees me wearing my mother’s hand-knitted sweaters. It’s too precious to eat immediately, so I plan to keep it displayed at home and enjoy it for a little while longer.
背景にしたのは、今回デンマークで見つけた手編みカーディガンです。サイズは少々大きめですが、細い毛糸で編まれているので肩の凝らない重さ。両手首のリブが長めなのもご注目いただきたいところです。
