Michelle (Take 1)

As I walked along my commute—seeking out the shade whenever possible—I happened to look up and spotted a cicada’s empty shell on the underside of an autumn leaf.

I had never paid much attention to it before, but during this blistering summer, I finally came to realize how deeply a cicada’s call is linked to temperature and sunlight.
