スウェーデンのアンナさんが「気持ちのいい朝だからロルフと庭で朝食をとっていたの。急に音がすると思ったら、マルハナバチも食事中だったわ」と知らせてくれました。
Anna from Sweden reached out to tell me, “Two bumblebees are having breakfast along with us.”
すぐにもう一匹やってきたそうで。
アンナさんによると「今年最初に咲いたこの秋明菊の花は、蜂たちにとって特別新鮮なごちそうだったんじゃないかしら」とのこと。そばにいるロルフさんと笑い合う二人の顔が目に浮かびました 🐝🐝
Anna said, “It’s the first Japanese anemone of the season, so I bet it was an extra fresh feast for bumblebees.” Imagining the two of them, Anna and Rolf, sharing a warm laugh together brought a smile to my face.
こんなときわたしが見返すのは、彼女と知り合ってすぐのころにもらった本 ‘Humlans Blomsterbok’（『マルハナバチの草花絵本』）です。子供用に書かれているのでスウェーデン語を学ぶ手助けになるのと、擬人化された蜂の挿絵がなんとも愛くるしくいつも手元に置いています。
朝と夕方に活発に飛び回るマルハナバチ。この本によるとスウェーデンで確認されているのは２８種類で、それぞれに特有の匂いがあるのだそうです。しかも最も多いとされる stenhumlan（写真の蜂とは異なります）はブルーチーズの匂いというので興味津々ですが、残念ながらまだ実際に嗅いだことはありません。
According to this book, there are 28 species confirmed in Sweden, and each has its own unique scent. I’m so fascinated to learn that stenhumlan, the most common species (different from the one in the photo), actually smells like blue cheese! Unfortunately, I haven’t had the chance to smell one for myself yet.
